Arizona State wins 8th NCAA women’s golf title — It came down to Strom, who was all square in her match. Strom rolled in a 7-foot par putt on the 18th to extend the match, and she won in 19 holes, with Madeline Chou of Stanford three-putted from 40 feet away on the fringe.

RELATED: Lighten up: Too tough is bad for NCAA women’s optics — “But we’re not at the LPGA level. We’re not the U.S. Open. We’re at a college golf event, and we have to create a situation where it tests the world-class players but we also don’t lose the general population of women’s college golf.”

Golf wants to depoliticize Donald Trump’s U.S. Open. Is it feasible? — With half the nation clearly unable to accept reality, being lead by a hostile media force, is it possible to just have a golf tournament anymore?

RELATED: Players defend Trump at Senior PGA With your Senior Tour Card comes wisdom and maturity. “I believe in almost every policy he believes in,” Funk said. “That he’s, I mean, less regulation, smaller government, protect our border, bigger military, less taxes. Our clubs did this a few times during yesterday’s round…

The results in this week’s Golf of Maine poll, regarding the practice of leaving rakes in, or out of bunkers, stands at 66% IN to 33% OUT, which is fine with us! We’ve always felt that once in a hazard, encountering a rake is part of the hazard. But leaving the rake outside the hazard creates a sort of secondary hazard that lies in wait outside the bunker. Vote now before we change the poll question, and leave your remarks in the Comment Bar below!

Did I Play to My Handicap? — The system is built around the concept of Course Rating, which impacts us all even though its definition ties to a “scratch” golfer. When you are given handicap strokes, you receive the number of strokes necessary to play to the level of a scratch golfer. If the scratch golfer is supposed to shoot the Course Rating, then those handicap strokes relate to the Course rating as well.

10 Things Golfers Really Hate — Even the most ardent golf fan will have a long list of things that annoy them about the game, here are 10 examples you might just be able to relate to.

New Release: Tom Doak’s Little Red Book of Golf Course Architecture — Anyone who has followed Doak knows that he is not shy about offering opinions on course architecture, which is what makes this new collection so enjoyable and educational.

Golf: A team sport in which the player is all alone — More than a game, golf is a way of living life. “For instance, golf is self-officiated,” he said. “The kids are on the course in a foursome. A rule will come up, and they have to call it themselves. They have to call rules on themselves. It’s an honor code.”

USPS To Release Golf Ball Stamp — Recognizing the traditional, old-school values that permeate the golfing universe, the USPS gambles that golfers still write letters, too.

5 Cultural Controls of Golf Course Maintenance — The author’s explanation of cultural controls is rather simple: manipulation of the growing environment. Or, more specifically, manipulating the growing environment using a variety of management techniques.

ASU’s Monica Vaughn rallies to win NCAA women’s golf title — We caught the tail-end of this very exciting match. “In a stunning turnaround at Rich Harvest Farms, Vaughn made up a four-shot deficit with four holes to play with two birdies and a lot of help from Wake Forest sophomore Jennifer Kupcho, who led the entire final round until a triple bogey on the 17th hole.”

15-year-old golfer advances through US Open local qualifier — Akshay Bhatia is like a lot of 15-year-olds. He’s growing taller, growing into his body. He has braces. He fiddles with his phone. But Bhatia isn’t a typical 15-year-old on the golf course.

Web.com Tour completes first test of range finders — The first of four test events allowing players to use distance-measuring devices during competition on the Web.com Tour was held last week with largely positive, albeit incomplete, feedback from players and fans.

DEAN & DELUCA INVITATIONAL Jordan Spieth, the defending champion at Colonial, has missed three of his last four cuts. The exception was a tie for 11th in the Masters.

Our playing partner remarked yesterday that Jordan Spieth seems to never have recovered from his debacle on the 12th Hole at the 2016 Masters. This caused us to go back and watch it again. Golf is a mental game…

5 Questions with Jennifer E. Poth, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Operation Support Military Golf (OSMG) — Often, overseas golf courses are our service members’ only safe and cost efficient means of outdoor recreation and relaxation from work stress and separation from their families. As of 2011, stateside military golf courses are provided zero government funding to operate and overseas courses receive minimal funding. They are required to be entirely self-sufficient. OSMG was founded to help fill this “non-essential” items void.

Rules Throwback: One Size Didn’t Always Fit All — “However, there was still one significant difference between the USGA and The R&A Rules coming out of the 1952 code: the size of the golf ball. Over the years, various sizes and weights of golf balls were used around the world.”

The Benefits Of Eliminating Intermediate Rough — Intermediate cuts of rough may save the occasional stroke on a player’s card, but eliminating it can save time and resources, improve playing conditions and enhance overall aesthetics.

Five major takeaways from the TaylorMade sale — “The golf business has been looking for good news after 2016’s annis horribilis with Golfsmith’s and Sports Authority’s bankruptcies (and the loss of more than 500 places that sell golf equipment), declining overall sales and unimpressive rounds played and participation numbers. But that trend started to shift with positive news from the NGF, a newly invigorated retailer on the scene in Golftec and now the presence of Wall Street endorsing golf.”

Confirmed: PGA Tour pros hate the USGA — “We interact with the USGA once a year at the U.S. Open, which from our view is usually a debacle. Five or six things that feel ridiculously unfair are guaranteed to happen to you that week, like losing a ball in the rough one yard off the fairway, or seeing your stopped ball suddenly roll 30 feet off a green. Unless you’re the guy holding the trophy at the end, you leave bitter.” The author’s name is a wee bit suspect…

Maintain the momentum with more music, more noise, lots of it.”
